
It’s still director Roman Perez Jr., who always tries to create something new and innovative in the 18+ genre of Philippine cinema, and The Woman Who Loses Herself is a typical example of 2022, a psychological horror film. The combination of sex, psychology and a sense of horror and suspense makes the film great. But the end result is just a headache, it has content and creativity, much different from most other films of vivamax. The story has some interesting content and the cinematography is excellent. Although the plot and character development are not really deep, that’s more than enough for a 3rd grade film.
This is considered an invested remake of the 1989 work of the same name by Eddie Rodriguez, starring Dina Bonnevie in the lead role of Albina. The film revolves around the beautiful character Albina Tamayo, an aspiring fashion model. She lives with her well-off parents Fidel and Evelyn, always given the best conditions to develop her career. She has just broken up with her terrible boyfriend of 6 years Wendell (Adrian Alandy) and is soon dating a sweet-talking professional photographer Lawrence (Diego Loyzaga).
One night, Albina finds an old necklace in their house. When she wears it, she starts having nightmares about a mysterious woman who seems to be trying to possess her body. She starts hearing voices, and soon becomes paranoid about her co-workers talking about her, or her boyfriend cheating on her. Meanwhile, there are men found dead after having sex with a mysterious woman dressed in black. What will happen to Albina?
