It is entirely justified that this film was labeled 18+ before its release. Indeed, the film primarily capitalizes on its erotic elements, making full use of them to please the audience with numerous sex scenes. Death in Desert is a sequel to Act, but it seems to share only the title, as its content is vastly different. While there are some notable philosophical elements in Death in Desert, for the most part, they merely serve as a thin layer of sophistication over the explicit scenes. Despite this, the film handles its erotic content fairly well, with appropriately spaced-out intimate scenes.
The story revolves around Do-kyeong, a doctor who is preparing to marry the daughter of a colleague. Inconveniently, this coincides with his rekindled relationship with Ga-in. At the beginning of Death in Desert, Do-kyeong actively ends their affair after an extended opening sex scene, while Ga-in becomes increasingly desperate, pleading with him to treat her as a partner rather than just a sexual object. Notably, Do-kyeong attempts to be the more considerate one in this situation, despite being the unfaithful party.
