Juzo saw himself as the embodiment of pure cinema. At press conferences, he would lift his chin slightly, drag on a cigarette, and exhale philosophical musings about “sensuality as a form of cinematic truth.” With thick glasses and the air of a man carrying the weight of artistic revolution, he truly believed he was ahead of his time. In reality, he was directing an erotic film, though he preferred to call it: “a study of gender through the language of the body.”

Things were running smoothly, at least in theory, until Meiko, the leading actress, began showing visible signs of pregnancy. The curves that once served as Juzo’s “primary visual vocabulary” slowly changed form, making each shot a battle between vision and biological reality. There was no way to hide a baby bump beneath harsh lighting and long tracking shots. Reluctantly, Juzo suspended production.

In the haze of frustration, he stumbled upon Ikuyo, a low-tier actress known mostly for roles that required silence, restraint, and often literal bondage. This time, however, the role was different. No ropes, no cages, just a character unshackled, bold, and fully in control. Ikuyo, surprisingly, brought something fresh to the dying project, something raw, alive.

Everything seemed to fall back into place… until Naomi, the male lead, began filming the same intimate scene with Ikuyo, the very scene that had once left Meiko pregnant.

Once again, the shadows behind the so-called “art of the body” began to leak through the lens, crawling between takes, lingering in every glance exchanged on set. And this time, no one could be sure whether the film would ever reach its final scene, or if it was destined to implode into another behind-the-scenes scandal.
