Teenage love is often intense and naive, emotions often dominate actions and bring about unsatisfactory results. It is the unpredictable attraction that many directors want to exploit this topic, and Endless Love (1981) is no exception, a carefully invested psychological and emotional film. Although it was rated 18+ before its release, the film’s hot scenes were artistically performed, and it is more meaningful than a purely entertaining work.
The film revolves around the character Jade Butterfield, a passionate 15-year-old girl. At the most beautiful and joyful age, she had to experience the most important thing in life, which is love, and for the first time discovered the joy and pain of love. On the other side is David Axelrod, a 17-year-old high school student, haunted by his intense passion for her. As their romance progresses, their feelings become so strong that they threaten to destroy their family, their sanity, and their future. However, when Jade’s grades begin to drop, her parents ban the young couple from seeing each other for 30 days. Driven mad with frustration and lust, David attempts to reverse the decision, with disastrous results.
