He is portrayed as a tragic figure, using his art and self-proclaimed genius as an excuse for misogyny and abusive behavior, particularly toward his wife. While Endless Waltz is a difficult film to endure due to its brutal depictions of domestic violence, it ultimately proves rewarding for those willing to confront its harrowing content.
