Not a sensation, nor a film that many audiences are looking for, but this HK historical film is very well invested in terms of script, costumes and acting. The film tells the story of two prostitutes recalling the circumstances that brought them to the brothel. The first woman was sold into the brothel after being discovered to have immoral actions. The second woman was engaged to her true love but her parents arranged to marry a boy for money.
The opening scene is not too explicit but conveys the underlying malice towards all the women in this brothel. Then the wrong relationships are told. In the second story, the idea of a 24-year-old woman marrying an 8-year-old boy and then being expected to have sex makes many people curious. Before that, the boy was taught a sex education lesson about different sexual positions. On the wedding night, the bride’s cousin arrives, changing everything.
