This is a typical indie film that combines sex and violence but the director manages to create a decent film from a potentially generic script. Actor John Arcilla does a good job as a deranged veteran who terrorizes a stranded couple. His performance here is better than the one he did in Erik Matti’s On The Job: The Missing 8, which was excellent and critically acclaimed.
However, this film is quite difficult to watch and is not for the faint of heart. It is quite realistic, especially in the way the sex scenes are depicted. Director Lawrence Fajardo manages to build enough suspense and tension. Some viewers may be put off by the pacing but patience is needed.
The film follows Dan (Sid Lucero), a talented young musician and romantic. One day, he and his girlfriend Trina (Cindy Miranda) are on their way to visit Dan’s hometown of Morinda, when a roadblock due to military activity forces them to take a long detour. Unfortunately, their car breaks down on a remote road with no phone signal. In desperation, they ask a man who emerges from the woods for help. The man, Gemo (John Arcilla), is a former soldier who is now the caretaker of the private land where Dan’s car broke down. He takes them to his home, where he shares a home with his wife Lala (Nathalie Hart), who nervously follows his every command. Gemo calls for help, but no mechanic arrives immediately. After chatting over dinner, Gemo reacts strangely when he hears Dan’s full name. From here, the story unfolds.
