This is a strange film, spanning 68 minutes with a unique take on the adult genre and carrying the distinct signature of director Kazuo “Gaira” Komizu, who always finds his own creative inspiration. It is also the third installment in Gaira’s Guts Trilogy, which includes Entrails of a Virgin and Entrails of a Beautiful Woman. While this film is considered the third entry in Kazuo Komizu’s Guts trilogy, it doesn’t quite fit with the other two.
In this installment, Rusted Body focuses on a ruthless gang of criminals involved in a plot to torture businessmen in order to steal their illicit profits—a blend of sex and violence. Several early torture scenes help establish the film’s tone. The brutality is enough to make viewers cringe, yet it strangely satisfies our cast of characters, including a few truly ruthless female figures.
After the opening scene, we are treated to a series of sequences, some of which are surprisingly imaginative, even if they lack much meaning. Everything builds toward a climactic torture scene in the finale, where director Kazuo Komizu gleefully fuses sex and violence to an extraordinary degree. While the film isn’t as outright insane as the previous two, it is more refined and focused.
