Cut to a darker scene, the space dimming as the faint beam of a flashlight flickers through dense foliage. The sound of stealthy footsteps echoes, deliberate and calculated. Mr. Dũng, a middle-aged man with a cold face and sharp eyes, stands behind a large tree, watching Ngọc Lan from afar. A sinister smile creeps across his face as he recalls the stinging slap she delivered to him at the office. “You’ll pay for that,” he whispers, his low, gravelly voice blending with the wind.
