In the final days of the war, amid the ruthless darkness of a world crumbling, the Japanese army quietly plunders gold from Chinese banks with the intent of shipping it back to their homeland. Alongside the brutal attacks, they also capture numerous young women, imprisoning them in a concentration camp, where these helpless souls endure unspeakable horrors. Among these captives are women whose fates are intertwined not only with the enemy but also with the ghosts of their pasts.

Among the prisoners is Hu Li-chu, the courageous wife of a Chinese army officer, who carries with her a terrifying secret: the location of the stolen gold. Her husband, before sacrificing himself in a tragic ambush, managed to hide the gold and reveal its hiding place to her. Yet, the brutal treatment at the hands of the Japanese has caused her to lose part of her memory. Despite the gaps in her recollection, Hu Li-chu refuses to escape without Jennifer and the other girls, those who have shared the pain with her throughout this dark chapter.

Amidst life and death, Chang, the camp cook, is revealed to be a Chinese agent, secretly aiding Hu Li-chu in her escape plan. He knows that without her help, the gold will remain forever buried along with the pointless sacrifices of the soldiers. But this escape is not only about gold, it’s about trust, unity, and a fragile spark of hope in a world devastated by war.
