After a grueling race in New Hampshire, the solitary motorcycle racer Bud Clay hits the road once again, not for rest or glory, but for California, where the next race awaits. Inside his cramped van, the days stretch endlessly. Five long days pass as he drives through deserted highways, barely uttering a word. Bud isn’t running from the world, but from the aching loneliness that has quietly taken root in his soul.

Along the way, he encounters strangers: fans who admire his quiet mystery, a woman just as lost as he is, and a few prostitutes offering him a brief escape from his sorrow. But Bud leaves them all behind. Deep inside, there is only one name, one memory, one ache that drives him forward, Daisy. She is the past that haunts him, the love that won’t fade.

He finds himself standing outside her house, unable to knock. Instead, he leaves a note, small, fragile, holding on to the faint hope that she might still care, that she might come. And then, unexpectedly, she does. Daisy appears in his hotel room, silent and beautiful, as though time had never passed. But the reunion comes with a cruel truth. In that quiet moment, Bud finally learns why he hasn’t been able to find her all this time, and realizes that some losses are too deep to ever be undone.
