True Story of a Woman in Jail: Continues follows the success of its predecessor, released in 1975, continuing the story of the harsh realities inside a women’s prison. The film focuses on the conflicts and power struggles between inmates, as well as the complex relationships between them and the prison guards. With the signature style of 1970s Japanese exploitation cinema, the film contains numerous scenes of violence and sexuality, depicting the brutality and injustice within the prison system.

The story follows Mayumi (played by Hitomi Kozue), a murderer tormented by obsessive jealousy. She is sent back to solitary confinement after being recaptured for killing a doctor who had exposed her following a failed surgery. Upon her release from solitary confinement, she witnesses a new gang mercilessly bullying a timid young female inmate. Now hardened by her experiences, Mayumi refuses to tolerate anyone’s cruelty. She becomes aggressive when the helpless girl is taken as a slave by the Yakuza, showing her newfound resilience in the brutal world of the prison.
