The story revolves around a woman named Hinako Seiyuu, an office worker, and her colleague, Shunsuke Yokado, who is secretly in love with her. Hinako, despite being in a long-distance relationship with her real boyfriend, struggles with the loneliness that comes from the physical and emotional distance between them. Meanwhile, Yokado, who has long harbored feelings for her, continually expresses his affection.
In an effort to alleviate her loneliness and find some comfort while her boyfriend is far away, Hinako agrees to start seeing Yokado, but under one condition: they will not engage in any physical intimacy. She only views Yokado as a substitute lover during the absence of her real boyfriend.
However, as time passes, the relationship between Hinako and Yokado becomes more complicated and ambiguous. Initially, their meetings are simply friendly and comforting, but gradually, they begin to share deeper emotional moments and more intimate experiences, blurring the lines between friendship and romantic love. Their relationship defies conventional norms, and its nature becomes increasingly difficult to define and filled with contradictions.
